Miscellaneous Cards

Above the Clouds

a post by Jackie

This uplifting card was so much fun to make using the Above the Clouds Stamp set & Hot Air Balloon punch. I love the neutral colors for this card because it’s perfect for any friend that needs a little encouragement. Keep reading to find out how to make this card at home!

I used lots of second generation stamping on this card. I love the variation of shade but keeping the colors simple and neutral.

Beginning with the clouds in Balmy Blue, I stamped in both full strength and then in half strength to get the off in the distance look. Then added smaller hot air balloons in Night of Navy. On a scratch piece of Whisper White, I stamped a full strength Crumb Cake, then again to create a softer shade for balloon 2.

Photopolymer stamps are great for this 2 step stamping. I used Early Espresso to add the balloon details & for the baskets. Lining up my images is so much easier with these clear photopolymer stamps. The punch makes cutting these images out quick and easy and I love the dimension popping these balloon up gives the card.

Here’s a trick for making a layered a sentiment tag using a single punch. I wanted to add Early Espresso behind my Whisper White tag, but they were the same side. I used my snips to cut my Early Espresso tag in half. Then used snail to attach it behind the white allowing for a small amount of the Espresso to be seen. A little Linen Thread behind the tag for some texture and dimensionals to pop it up & your card is complete!

I made my first solo YouTube video showing off how to make this card, you can watch it below!
